Install in five minutes

Twang is not Apple-notarized yet, so your Mac may ask you to manually allow it the first time you open it. That's expected for this alpha.

  1. Download the app

Download the latest Mac build from the button above and unzip it.

  2. Move it to Applications

Drag Twang.app into your Applications folder.

  3. Open it on your Mac

Double-click the app. If macOS blocks it, control-click the app and choose Open.

  4. If needed, allow it once

Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

  5. If macOS says the app is damaged

Open Terminal and run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Twang.app, then try launching again.

  6. Paste your invite code

Use the personal invite code from your alpha email, then connect your inbox and start with your most important threads.

  7. Add your OpenRouter API key

Twang runs its AI through OpenRouter so the usage billed to your account stays yours. A five-minute setup that makes the whole app come alive.

    1. Go to openrouter.ai and create an account.
    2. Add $20 of credit. That covers about a year of normal use (roughly $1.50 a month).
    3. Open openrouter.ai/keys and create a new API key. Copy it.
    4. In Twang, open Settings → AI & Agents and paste the key.

Without an OpenRouter key, triage, drafts, and the Chief of Staff panel don't run. With it, you get the inbox you came for.

Start with the inbox. Ignore local models, voice analysis, and skills unless you want to explore later.

II.

Get value fast

Your first session should feel like Twang is helping, not like you're setting up another email client.

  1. Open your most important threads and see what Twang prioritizes.
  2. Try a ghost draft on a real thread you were already going to answer.
  3. Use the suggested actions inside the Context panel before touching advanced settings.

III.

Reporting bugs

If something breaks, the fastest way to help is to send one clear report.

Best
Use Twang's in-app bug reporter.
Include
